About Us

This little stud between Balfour and Greylingstad in Mpumalanga is the proud home of thirteen beautiful Friesians and a few other horses.Faeriewood Friesians started as a dream, nothing more.Just two of these magnificent black horses were needed, one for my husband and one for me.Then I saw the most beautiful pictures of Friesians in a magazine, HQ, and the dream turned into a necessity.I had to have a Friesian!I found my first beloved, Hartzenberg Ceaser, then a gangly five-month-old colt and it was love at first sight. When he was seven months old, he went home with me and his breeders, Ferdi and Mohnja Hartzenberg, sent his playmate Achilles, a 75 percent pure Friesian, with.By then the bug had bitten me so badly that I immediately started looking for more of these stunning horses.I couldn’t afford a fully grown Friesian with an excellent pedigree, so my aim was firmly on youngsters.I found my next two, Timo Vee, a colt and Valerie, a filly, at the Santa Fé stud in Bloemfontein. And that is how the dream started expanding and coming true. Recently we added first two pregnant mares and their weanling colts, Rita, Klara, Ryan and Veon.  Hot on their heels we got Oepke GT, an imported stallion, and another three mares: Barbara, Madonna and Emmerins.  The other horses are Tyra, a Thoroughbred mare, Jondalar, a 50 percent Friesian and Maya, a little pony.

So, come into our domain, relax and enjoy as we share our hopes, failures, happiness and the occasional tear with you.
